Naming Orion Spacecraft
The next phase in non military manned spaceflight will be NASA’s Project Constallation which aims to get back to the Moon and on to Mars. There are many questions surrounding the project such as funding under the new administration and why lots of the useful scientific data from Apollo has been lost and needs to be researched again, but one that is more fun is what the Orion Crew Module will be named?
Star Trek fans got there way when Space Shuttle Enterprise was named, and it’s pretty sure that this will be used again.
Other obvious choices based on NASA’s history will likely be tied to Greek and Egyptian gods and dieties, although I doubt Akhenaten will be first pick. But seeing as the Trekkies got their way, I thought it would be good to suggest a few more…

STS Montauk - Just for a laugh
But if theres to be lots of ships built I think we should just hand over naming all of them top British author Iain M Banks. Here’s some classic names from the culture series; Nervous Energy, Prosthetic Conscience, Irregular Apocalypse, No More Mr Nice Guy, Profit Margin, The Ends Of Invention, Just Read The Instructions, Limiting Factor, So Much For Subtlety, Just Testing, What Are The Civilian Applications? Ethics Gradient and possibly my favourite – STS Not Invented Here.
